My story with spirits began long before Urban Drinkery. As a child, I learned beside my grandmother, Alice B. Henry, as she made what our family called country buck—a homemade fermented drink made with corn and wheat in a bucket tucked inside the utility closet.
From her, I inherited more than knowledge of making alcohol. I learned that a drink could carry tradition, hospitality and the power to bring people together. In 2020, that spirit helped shape my mason-jar cocktails, and by 2021 Urban Drinkery had grown into a brick-and-mortar gathering place on the Deuces.
Urban Drinkery was already built—but I knew there was more for me to learn. I went from behind the bar to behind the stills in Vancouver, Washington, training hands-on at Quartz Mountain Distillers and making my first unaged corn whiskey at 105 proof.
